Is Fitness Club veterinary rehabilitation?
No.
ATC Fitness Club is a non-medical fitness and conditioning program.
Veterinary rehabilitation is medical care provided within a veterinarian-directed rehabilitation plan for an individual patient.
Although Fitness Club and rehabilitation may use some of the same equipment, the purpose of the service is different.
Does my dog need a veterinary referral?
ATC will require a referral from the dog's primary veterinarian for participation in non-medical fitness services.
This helps make sure the dog is appropriate for the type of activity being offered.
The primary veterinarian can complete the referral right on ATC's website.
Can a dog with a medical condition join Fitness Club?
Fitness Club is not intended to replace veterinary evaluation or medical rehabilitation.
If a dog has an injury, known medical concern, unexplained mobility change or rehabilitation need, the appropriate veterinary process should occur first.
ATC can then help determine which type of service is appropriate.
Can Fitness Club include underwater treadmill?
Yes.
Underwater treadmill activity may be used as part of an appropriate fitness or conditioning program.
Using the equipment does not automatically make the session medical rehabilitation.
The purpose of the session determines whether it is rehabilitation or fitness.
Can Fitness Club include aquatic activity?
Yes.
Depending on the program, aquatic exercise may be part of Fitness Club.
Aquatic activity can include underwater treadmill or other appropriate water-based exercise.
Are Fitness Club sessions individualized?
Fitness sessions are structured around the participating dog and the program being used.
Dogs vary in physical ability, experience, comfort with equipment and conditioning goals.
The session does not need to look identical for every dog.
Are Fitness Club credits transferable or carried over?
Fitness Club credits are associated with the membership structure in effect for the enrolled dog.
Credits do not roll over from one membership period to the next.
Current membership details, included sessions and program terms should be reviewed on the ATC Fitness Club page or with the ATC team.
Does a hydro session use one full credit?
Yes.
For ATC Fitness Club memberships, one hydro session uses one hydro credit.
Credits are not divided into half-credit sessions.
How long are Fitness Club sessions?
ATC Fitness Club sessions are structured around approximately 20-minute activity sessions.
The exact experience may vary depending on the dog and the type of activity scheduled.
Can Fitness Club be used for performance dogs?
Yes, appropriate active or performance dogs may participate in Fitness Club or conditioning activities.
The fitness program is separate from treatment of injuries or other medical concerns.
What if my dog starts showing a mobility problem during fitness?
A new or concerning mobility change should not simply be treated as a fitness challenge.
The ATC team may recommend that the owner contact the dog's veterinarian or move into the appropriate veterinary evaluation process before continuing non-medical activity.
How do I know which Fitness Club option is right for my dog?
ATC offers different Fitness Club membership options based on the type and frequency of activity desired.
Current membership options and pricing are available on the ATC Fitness Club page.
The ATC team can also help explain how the different membership structures work.
